Another day wiring
I had to add an additional access point in a large retail building in Pasadena. I first tried to use a wireless "extender". It could not handle the load. Unfortunately, that leaves me having run an Ethernet cable approximately 150 ft. I ran a cat5e cable. I believe the maximum stable distance is 100m or approximately 300 ft. That was not the hard part. The hard part is having to run the cable through the drop ceiling; avoiding sprinklers, fluorescent lighting, expensive furniture, immobile desks, and fishing it up and down the walls. Customers never appreciate the amount of time and effort to wire buildings. I can understand why many shady telecom guys or techs take short cuts and do sloppy work. However, I like my work to look like it was how the original builders would have done it. Although, unlike the original builders, it will actually work the first time someone goes to use it
