Small Business Network Printer, Network Fax, and Network Scanner

I had to setup a Brother MFC 7440n laser printer for one of my clients.

I normally shy away from most multi function laser printers for small businesses as the claims of the printers to not live up to realities.

I was pleasantly surprised by this printer. I was able to setup a computer to print to fax, print, and access scanned copies of pdfs made at the scanner itself.

I was also happy that once I did all of the harder setup, the clients were able to use the powerful features effortlessly. I think my clients appreciate my work more when I make it so they do not have to think about anything. I like it when they just press the button.

I had to change some firewall settings and port settings for the printer as the computer kept complaining that it was not able to communicate. It seems the setup utility that came with the printer was not properly tested as it was useless. I was happy that I could make a standard tcp-ip port manually and the communication problems went away. It is a great printer. I hope it can handle the volume that is going to be thrown at it.
